This past weekend TLS had the privilege of participating in the Second Annual Bark In The Park – Dog Adoption Event benefiting the Humane Society of Greater Miami! Last year we were unable to go due to some previously planned events but this year we were super excited to be a part of it. This event is fairly new and is hosted by World Wide Properties – a local real estate brokerage firm servicing Miami Beach – and takes place in the heart of South Beach at one of the best dog parks in the area. I particularly love this park because of the number of trees providing shade and the awesome fountain, which kind of reminds me of the fountains at Disney World, for the dogs to play around and soak in.
Last year being the first year the event took place there were few vendors/ participants as well as guests but this year we had a great turn out! There were definitely a lot more local businesses (Equinox, Lowes, Flashy Lashes, Petco) participating and a steady flow of locals dropping in to check out the adoptable dogs and mingle. There were 3-4 dogs that were brought in by the humane society for adoption and one of them, Isabella, was lucky enough to find her fur-ever home!
Funny story about the adoptable dogs – our german shepherd Zoey which happens to be the TLS mascot and also attendee received an overwhelming response from guests! Apparently they thought she was up for adoption as well! She had about 6 guests inquiring about her and even one woman towards the end of the event who kept asking if we were sure she wasn’t up for adoption! Sorry guys, she’s a keeper 🙂
My favorite thing about this event and I’m sure a lot of the guests will agree was all the FREE stuff! All the vendors there had tons of free merchandise for the pups – dog treats, bags, leashes and toys as well as things for their pet parents, ourselves included! TLS put together these adorable little chinese take-out boxes with pink bows and our logo filled with all natural bone shaped doggie treats, that I myself baked! They were a huge hit with the locals who loved the cute packaging as well as with the pooches who of course will eat just about anything especially if it has peanut butter.
Great event to kick off the fall season despite it still feeling as though it’s summer! If you or anyone your know is thinking about bringing a furry friend into their home be sure to check out the Humane Society of Greater Miami. There are a number of adoptable dogs and cats who need forever homes, you never know you might find your best friend there!
